DWB 35-day performance test 2019 results26-11-2019 - 11:56

Three dressage stallions with more than 900 in total score and a Danish Warmblood stallion had the far best showjumping performance test.

Three dressage stallions scored over 900 points

On Sunday November 24th the Danish Warmblood stallion performance test ended with testing both dressage- and jumping stallions shown with daily rider as well as test rider. The dressage judges were thrilled with their lot which revealed a very high quality, three even with total scores of over 900 p.

This year it was held on a Sunday and that resulted in much more audience in the spectator area in Tørring, Denmark. The dressage stallions were first shown by master riders Marie Witt Poulsen and Nanna Christine Christensen, and test rider, also examined master rider, Allan Grøn took over afterwards, all of it orchestered by experienced performance test manager Torben Frandsen, that day at foot in the arena.

Bjarne Nielsen from the Danish Warmblood breeding commission expressed great excitement with both the performance test management and the generally very high quality of the stallions.

You could consider the DWB 35-day performance test for dressage stallions the most interesting one of its kind this year, since it held both champions and prize stallions from most of the leading studbooks in Europe.

On Sunday all stallions were above 750 p. in total score, and only one below 800 p. which is the requirement for automatic final licensing for previously approved stallions when they are presented at the DWB Stallion Show in Herning in March, 2020.

Winner of the dressage test was the DWB stallion  Atterupgaards Barcelo by Bon Coeur/Caprimond (breeder Atterupgaard) ending with a total score of 914,5 points, including one single score of 8,5 leaving the rest of the scores on 9,0 and 9,5.

The stallion is owned by Atterupgaard and Helgstrand Dressage and is out of the elite mare Atterupgaards Dicte who already produced several breeding stallions.

The German-bred stallion Danciero by Dancier/Floriscount from Helgstrand Dressage was runner-up with a total score of 911,0 while Global Player by Grand Galaxy Win/Blue Hors Don Schufro, bred in Denmark, but registered in Germany was third with a total score of 904,5. The stallion belongs to the breeder Henrik Hansen along with Helgstrand Dressage and Paul Schockemöhle.

Danish stallion won the showjumping performance test

The young showjumpers then took over the arena in Tørring. The overall winner was the DWB stallion Kammerherre Gårdens Sheik by Stakkato Gold/Carano, bred and owned by the Kjærsgaard family from Køge.

The Italian rider in Tørring, Riccardo Onori, presented all 9 stallions which were all thoroughly tested by master rider Christian Petersen. Also the showjumper test management was praised in general.

Only one stallion did not pass the test with a total score above 750 p. and that was a foreign stallion not approved by Danish Warmblood. One was below 800 p. and 7 above, which like in the case of the dressage stallions serve as an automatic final licensing for previously approved stallions going to the DWB Stallion Show in Herning in March, 2020.

Kammerherre Gårdens Sheik by Stakkato Gold/Carano ended up with a very high performance test result of 864,0 including most scores on 8,5 and several 9’s. This very easily ridden stallion cantered in a very good balance and showed courage and willingness. He had shown a very good and positive development all through the test period.

The Danish Warmblood breeding committee showjumping judge, Johnny Hansen, said that this was a good crop and with a very good average. He emphasized that currently in Danish showjumping breeding there is increasingly higher focus on rideability and the showjumping test winner scored three 9’s in rideability.
