Promising Young Show Jumping Mares26-08-2019 - 14:48

Among the young mares at the Danish Warmblood KRAFFT Elite Show the judges have appointed the 2-year old and 3-year old Show Jumping Mare of the Year

At the Danish Warmblood KRAFFT Eliteskue the judges and the audience have been spoiled all day Sunday with young mares of very high quality today. The show jumping mares are divided into two sections; 2-year-old fillies and newly graded mares aged 3 years or older, all of which are shown in free-jumping before the judges.

The 3-year old and older mares have all been saddle-graded and compete at the elite show to be decorated with breeder’s medals in bronze, silver and even sometimes gold. This year, only six newly graded mares were invited to the elite show where three were awarded a silver medal and three got a bronze medal.

Appointed Show Jumping Mare of the Year was the expressive Bøgegårdens Aida by Bøgegårdens Apollo x Calato, bred and owned Stina og Jørden Schmidt, a very successful breeder family that also run a stallion station. Bøgegårdens Aida stood out as an attractive, functional and practical mare with great technique and scope.

– This mare has a very functional topline and a ground-covering canter. She has shown good rideability, and she jumps very willingly with a good overview. At the performance test she scored 8.5 for rideability and two 9’s for technique and capacity, breeding consultant Karina Christiansen commented.

Champion filly by Cantolar

As best 2-year old show jumping filly of the year the judges appointed Feldborgs Cantonelli by Cantolar x Cabachon, bred and owned by Arne Feldborg Johannesen. This large-framed and well-developed filly demonstrated and very well-balanced canter and show good suppleness and great execution in the free-jumping.

– This young mare is an outstanding type with a good expression, harmonious conformation and ground covering movements. She jumps with superb hindleg technique and a good focus on the job, and on top of it she displays a very nice temperament, Karina Christiansen said.
