During autumn 2019 174 4-year-old Danish Warmblood dressage horses have taken part in the DWB ability tests that are the qualifiers for the Blue Hors Young Horse Championships in Herning 2020 during the DWB Stallion Show.
Now the very best 57 Danish Warmbloods have been invited for Herning 2020, where they will be 5 years old. Rules say the 50 best, but since there where many horses all scoring 800,0 these are all invited. Thereby only 2 are marked up as reserve horses that can be invited if too many horses cancel their participation.
Who is in the lead when looking at the qualifiers?
All previous scores are deleted and only the scores given in the Blue Hors Young Horse Championships in Herning in March 202 will count. But from the list shown here containing all participating ability test horses, the bronze medal mare Nobelle is in the lead with 880,0 points. She was bred by HRH Princess Benedikte, Berleburg and by Negro out of the main studbook mare Fay by Blue Hors Future Cup. Through Nobelle’s 5th dam, Tamara, she is actually from the same dam lineage as the Stallion of the Year 2019, elite stallion and Grand Prix contestant, Skovens Rafael, and his sister, the gold medal mare and WBCYH competitor Skovens Tzarina. Nobelle was ridden and owned by Mette Sejbjerg Jensen.
Which breeding sires are predominant among the qualified?
Out of the 57 Danish Warmbloods 30 different breeding sires are represented. Only one has 6 offspring in the list, namely Blue Hors First Choice. With 5 offspring follows Grand Galaxy Win, and with 4 each Sezuan and Franziskus. Blue Hors Zack and Blue Hors St. Schufro have each 3 offspring in the list of qualified DWB’s.
Find the list in full here, with competitors listed in alphabetical order on breeding sire names.
How will they be judged in Herning?
During the first days in Herning they will all be shown by own rider twice, and the best of these are qualified for the final where Danish team rider Daniel Bachmann will ride, comment, and give his own scores. Those not selected for the final will be ridden by own rider in a consolation class.
