Every year, the crème de la crème of the regional mare gradings and foal shows gather to celebrate Danish Warmblood breeding at the National Horse Sport Center Vilhelmsborg, and 2024 was no exception
At the Danish Warmblood KRAFFT Elite Mare Show at Vilhelmsborg, a thrilling collection of the best saddle-graded mares came together, each with their breeder’s eyes set on earning a breeder’s medal. Hand-picked two-year-old mares and charming top foals meet and competed for titles and honor, creating an atmosphere of anticipation and excitement.
With their stunning movements or jumping potential, the mares and foals captivated the audience, showcasing their elegance and grace during three days of top performance from August 30 to September 1.
Thirty-two 3 and 4-year old mares and two 8-year old dressage mares participated in the elite mare championships following their results at the regional inspections and mare performance test. Danish Warmblood awards them "medals" of gold, silver and bronze according to score and quality.
Judges Vicky Nortvig, Jens Søgaard and Rune Willum awarded two mares the gold medal and one was named champion: Søbakkehus Miss Malfoy (by Hesselhoej Down Town x Sir Donnerhall), bred by Agnete Holmsted and presented under saddle and in hand by Cecilie Hedegaard.
The second gold medal mare was Chantal (by Revolution x Blue Hors Hertug), bred by Jane and Erik Bech Jensen and owned by Helgstrand Dressage. She was shown by Finnish Merita Hagren – and named “A Happy Athlete” after scoring the top ridning test of the season.
Stunning free jumping
Nine 3-year-old mares was shown loos and in free jumping in front of the judges Signe Wiese, Johnny Hansen, Bo K. Møller and Allan Blomgreen. They selected three outstanding athlets for the final awarding all a breeders medal in silver. The title of Champion Mare went to Valene Ask by Cassado Ask/Larimar breeder Stutteri Ask.
