Procedures at pre-seelctions
Procedure when judging dressage stallions
(4½ min. per stallion, incl. walk in-hand at the end of each heat)
Young colts walked in-hand at a DWB pre-selection on VilhelmsborgAn arena with the measures 20x40 m. is established. The stallions are put in heats of approx. 12 colts.
1. All colts are shown individually free in arena (approx. 3½ min. per colt). 3½ years and older stallions can be shown ridden instead.
2. The colts are walked in-hand with his heat of approx. 12, and a few may get admission to be shown later on hard surface.
3. The few hand-picked stallions are shown on hard surface for the judges. (approx. 1 ½ min. per colt)
4. Then these colts are shown loose in arena (approx. 2 min. per colt). Stallions of 3½ years and older are not shown loose if they are shown under rider earlier that day.
5. All of the few hand-picked stallions are shown walked in-hand in chronological order in arena and some of these are invited for the National Stallion Show in Herning in March.
Procedure when judging jumper stallions
(6 min. per stallion, incl. walk in-hand at the end of each heat)
A closed running track is established, with jumps as illustrated below. The stallions are put in heats of approx. 12 colts.
1. All colts are warmed up separately in the running track and then shown free-jumping (approx. 5 min. per colt). Stallions of 3½ years and older can be shown on a small parcours.
2. The colts are walked in-hand with his heat of approx. 12, and a few may get admission to be shown later on hard surface.
3. The few hand-picked stallions are shown on hard surface for the judges. (approx. 1 ½ min. per colt)
4. Then these colts are shown loose in arena (approx. 2 min. per colt). Stallions of 3½ years and older are not shown loose if they are shown under rider earlier that day.
5. All of the few hand-picked stallions are shown walked in-hand in chronological order in arena and some of these are invited for the National Stallion Show in Herning in March.
Free-jumping arena officials are situated as shown above during the pre-selection of jumper colts.
