Danish-Bred Stallions Win Performance Tests27-11-2025 - 09:50

In both the jumping and dressage disciplines, two Danish-bred stallions secured victory in the 20- and 35-day performance tests at Tørring Ridecenter—an exceptional year in which the overall quality was remarkably high.

Eight jumping stallions took part in the 20-day test and 13 dressage stallions in the 35-day test at Tørring Ridecenter, supervised by professional rider Torben Frandsen. Spirits were high at the joint conclusion on Saturday, November 22, where many spectators attended the final examination of the 21 stallions.
Throughout the test period, training leader Torben Frandsen awarded marks to the stallions, and the same scoring was carried out by judges Johnny Hansen and Bjarne Nielsen, who were technically responsible for the jumping and dressage evaluations, respectively. A mid-term test was also held, where judges and test riders gave marks, but only the scores from the final evaluation are decisive.

Danish-Bred Stallions on Top

It was a true pleasure to witness this year’s conclusion of the stallion performance test. The jumping stallions opened the day, ridden by the experienced showjumper and former senior European Championship competitor, Konstantin Deeken Künnemann, who served as test rider.
As expected, the Danish Warmblood stallion Jupiter DWB (by Jewel Ask Z / Clearwater S) claimed the win. The stallion has impressed from day one, earning 890 points, including marks of 9.5 for capacity and technique from both the judge and the training leader. Bred by Hans Jørgen Juhl, he was sold at the Danish Warmblood Elite Foal Auction and is now owned by Maigaard/Mette Nielsen, Stutteri Volstrup, and RayPawers Trading ApS. While he did not receive the highest marks for rideability, he topped the evaluation of jumping ability and capacity by a significant margin, scoring an impressive 917.1 points.

In dressage, professional rider Allan Grøn once again served as test rider—a role he has held since 2019.
Several stallions positioned themselves as strong contenders throughout the test, but it was the Danish-bred Daan G. (by Hesselhøj Donkey Boss / Blue Hors Don Olymbrio), bred by Stutteri G. v. Helene Geervliet and now owned by Helgstrand Dressage and Paul Schockemöhle, who secured the victory with 912 points. Helene has enjoyed an exceptional season, having also bred the triple World Young Horse Champion Quinn G., ridden to victory in Verden by Fiona Bigwood. Daan G. did not receive a single score below 9.0 in his test, earning, among others, a 9.5 for his exceptional, elastic trot.

Danish Warmblood dressage breeders are in a privileged position: some of the world’s finest—if not the finest—young stallions are Danish-owned and available for breeding at home. This provides a unique opportunity to follow the stallions closely throughout the licensing and testing system, and many of them will go on to compete in the Danish young horse championships and later in sport.
Breeding of jumping stallions has likewise developed very positively in recent years, and this year’s results clearly show that breeders of showjumpers do not necessarily need to look beyond Denmark’s borders to find quality stallions.

It will be highly exciting to see this remarkable group of dressage and jumping stallions again at the Danish Warmblood Stallion Licensing in Herning from March 4–8, 2026.
