Quinn G is World Champion for 5-year-olds05-08-2023 - 22:09

The stunning mare Quinn G and rider Betina Jæger secured gold for DWB at the FEI/WBFSH World Breeding Dressage Championship for Young Horses in Ermelo

- It is amazing and just incredible to ride a horse that has been given a 10 for perspective/future, said Betina Jæger at the press conference after her win in the final for the 5-year-olds at the championships in Ermelo.

And when asked, she said:

- I dreamt of the medal, but there were just so many good horses in the final.

About Quinn G, Betina said:
- She is fantastic with such a great character, she wants to work, and she is really “on”, but in a good way. The best thing is that she wants to work with you and is positive and happy. And she is a bit more on her toes at show than at home.

In the finals Quinn G by Quarterhit/Fassbinder (bred by Helene Geervliet) seemed a more relax than in the qualifier and performed a flawless ride which really showed off the talented mare. The judges gave the mare 9.7 for trot, 8,5 for walk, 9.5 for canter, 9.7 rideability/submission and finally a clear 10 for perspective/future.

With the win, Danish Warmblood horses have won 20 medals at the Young Horse World Championships over the years – 11 of these medals have been gold medals.

A few of the judges’ comments were:

- Trots with power, suppleness and were light on her feet, lots of swing in the topline, totally relaxed mouth – a horse with great potential and very well presented.

The third DWB horse in the finals was the big and impressive gelding Grevens Sirius by Secret/Johnson (bred by Stud Greven). Together with rider Michael Grønne, the gelding placed 6th, with a score of 9.0 for the canter as the highlight.

The winner from the qualifier, Valerie B by Revolution/Blue Hors Zack (bred by Karin & Peer Guldbrandsen) placed 4th in the final. The mare scored 9.3 for the trot, 9.7 for canter, 8,7 for rideability/submission and 9.0 for perspective/future, but the walk was “only” scored 8.0 in the final, and this cost the pair a medal.

Podium:

Gold: Quinn G by Quarterhit (DWB) and Betina Jæger Jæger (DEN) 94.8 %

Silver: No Limit by Geniaal (WEST) and Simone Pearce (AUS) 88.6 %

Bronze: Beck’s by Benicio (HANN) and Thomas Schulze (GER) 88.2 %
