Strong DWB finish in Ermelo06-08-2023 - 20:11

Although there were no more medals for the last of the DWB horses competing at the at the FEI/WBFSH World Breeding Dressage Championship for Young Horses in Ermelo, they still delivered a strong finish.

In the finals for the 7-year-olds, DWB was represented by Skovdals Dexter by Hesselhøj Donkey Boy/Blue Hors Romanov (bred by Bjarne Skovdal) ridden by Susanne Barnow. Dexter has “big eyes” and spooked a bit during the canter-part and of course this effected the final score. He was rewarded with 8.5 for trot, 8.7 for walk, 8.2 for canter, 7.4 for rideability/submission and 8.5 for perspective.
The pair placed 6th in the final which rider Susanne Barnow was very happy with:

- I am just so proud of him. He is the 6th best 7-year-old horse in the world, and he has learned so much from being here. He is a super nice horse and is so nice to ride.

In the finals for the 6-year-olds, DWB was represented by two horses: The reigning world champion from last year’s championship for the 5-year-olds: Lyngbjergs St. Paris by Blue Hors St. Schufro/Blue Hors Rockefeller and Hesselhøj Double Up by Hesselhøj Donkey Boy/Tailormade Lancelot.

The elegant Lyngbjergs St. Paris is a very sensitive horse and in the final, the mare was a bit tense in the canter, and this again affected the flying changes. But overall, the mare did very well, scoring 9.0 for the trot, 8.0 for walk, 9.0 for the canter, 8.2 for rideability/submission and 8.5 for perspective/future. They ended up placing 4th – just shy of the medals.

Hesselhøj Double Up and rider Anders Sjøbeck Hoeck had qualified via the small final, which meant that the pair competing and extra day, compared to most horses in the final. The elegant and light-footed horse did seem to be lacking a bit of energy and strength in the final. The scores were 8.0 for trot, 7.8 for walk, 8.5 for canter, 7.2 for rideability/submission and 8.2 for perspective/future and the pair placed 14th in the finals.
