Sezuan is now elite stallion01-11-2019 - 10:51

The Danish Warmblood breedig committee has appointed the 10-year-old Danish Warmblood breeding sire, Sezuan as elite stallion, as he now meets the requirements regarding own and offspring performances.

Sezuan DVE 1110 by Blue Hors Zack/Blue Hors Don Schufro (Breeder Linette Jæger) was the winner of the DWB 35-day performance test for dressage stallions and as 4-year-old he became champion at the big, traditional Danish Warmblood Stallion Show in Herning March 2013.

Furthermore, he won the championship final of the Danish Equestrian Federation for 4-year-old dressage horses, as well as being the first horse ever to do hattrick winning as both 5-, 6-, and 7-year-old at the FEI World Breeding Champinships for Young Horses in Verden and Ermelo respectively. Later he became internationally successful with victories in PSG scoring 80,83% and Intermediate I with the score 79,34%.

Within Danish Warmblood Sezuan has sired no less than 19 mares with a breeder’s medal of which three are in gold, 6 silver, and 10 bronze. Looking at sons licensed within the DWB association he has 4 licensed sons; Janeiro Platinum DVH 1309, So Unique DVH 1296, Suarez DVH 1295, and the silver medal stallion Tørveslettens Sylvester DVH 1303.

At the WBCYH for dressage horses in Ermelo 2019 several offspring by Sezuan participated from different studbooks, and the German son Secret won silver among the 5-year-olds where the Danish gold medal mare Queenparks Wendy was 3rd and got bronze. The very same mare also won the 5-year-old class at the championships of the Danish Equestrian Federation in October 2019, thereby cementing her superior quality already revealed when she won the Danish Warmblood/Blue Hors Young Horse Championship during the DWB Stallion Show in March 2019. Among these very best 5-year-old DWB’s qualified for this special class, many were by Sezuan, and for instance no. 2 and 4 were Sezuan offspring. Find the result list of that competition here.

From his first crop that are now 6 years old, Sezuan already has 3 offspring qualified for national-level dressage competitions. His overall dressage breeding value in Danish Warmblood is 161, with 100 being the average normal of the Danish Warmblood population.

Elite stallions are only dealt with once a year by the DWB breeding commission and the deadline for applying for this elite status is always on October 1st each year.
