The Nordic International Sales foal auction was successfully conducted Saturday night in a cooperation between Helgstrand Dressage and Danish Warmblood, and clearly stated that the current Corona situation is no hindrance for high-quality foals to achieve top prices

Five foals were sold for more than 30,000 EUR and nothing less than three foals changed hands for 50,000 EUR or more. The collection was comprised of 15 quality foals out of which 13 sold for an average price of 25,000 DKK.

 

The beautiful black filly Gørklintgårds Blackberry by Franklin/ Gørklintgårds Santos, from the renowned breeder Jørgen Ravn, became the auction’s price highlight with a knock-down price of 56,000 EUR, but she was not on her own at this high level. The handsome colt Gammelenggårds Galiano by Grand Galaxy Win/ Blue Hors Don Romantic became the most expensive colt foal and changed ownership for 54,000 EUR. The bay colt was presented by top breeders Stald Heiline in a cooperation with Nanna Jønsson.

 

Bids were placed from clients in Austria, Canada, Germany, the Netherlands, Sweden and the UK via telephone and internet. A Canadian buyer acquired the supple-moving chestnut colt Casper Janeiro Platinum/ Dancier from the breeders Lena and Ulrik Kristensen for the price of 50.000 EUR.

 

Local buyers from Northern Jutland, both return customers, secured some of the most sought-after filly foals; Tjørnegårdens Tennessee by Janeiro Platinum/ Blue Hors Hotline from Christina Reslow and Flying Tabata Pilekær by Jameson RS2/ Ferro from Lars Langendorff and Anne Mette Rossen, sold for 44,000 and 31,000 EUR respectively.

 

Head of the Danish Warmblood auction committee, Ulrik Kristensen, is delighted with the outcome of the auction and describes it as a major success. He underlines that the organizers owe the success to the breeders who have had the courage the retain their top foals for this auction.

 

– Earlier this year, the Corona situation held out prospects of a challenging season, but nonetheless it has been possible to sell foals for top prices on a totally different market. It has required innovation and adaption including a new set-up with online bidding – a set-up that will be a part of our future auctions. We have great expectations to our next auctions – also in 2021, Ulrik Kristensen concludes.

 

Danish Warmblood presents two regional foal auctions on 12 and 19 September, and the last foal auction this year will be the DWB World Cup Auction held at the World Cup qualifier at Vilhelmsborg on 16 and 17 October.
